Madrid will be the epicenter of the European debate on technological sovereignty, strategic autonomy, and industrial competitiveness on June 10 and 11, 2026, with the celebration of the First International Meeting on Technological Sovereignty and Strategic Sectors, organized by the Fundación para el Conocimiento madri+d within the framework of the Summer Courses of the Complutense University of Madrid.

The meeting will feature a prominent presence from the Cluster in Technological Innovation and Talent in Semiconductors: Daniel Granados, director of the Cluster, will moderate the panel 'Strategic Industry: Dependencies, synergies, and potentialities of the DUAL market', in which Jesús Gallego, academic co-director of the Cluster for Technological Innovation and Talent in Space Technologies of the Community of Madrid, will participate. And Jorge Lang, co-director of the CITT Semiconductors, will be in charge of moderating the dialogue 'The Madrid innovation ecosystem and its role in the development of strategic sectors'.

The sessions will take place at the European Parliament Office in Spain, located at Paseo de la Castellana, 46, Madrid, and participation will be free, upon registration. The event is open to professionals, researchers, companies, public administrations, students, and all those interested in understanding the role of Madrid and Europe in the development of critical technologies for the economic, industrial, and geopolitical future.

The objective of this meeting is to place the Region of Madrid at the center of the European debate on strategic sectors such as semiconductors, quantum technologies, security and defense, critical materials, and energy, key areas for strengthening Europe's technological autonomy and its capacity for scientific and industrial leadership.

The program will feature internationally renowned speakers, including María Marced, former president of TSMC Europe and a prominent figure in the field of semiconductors, and Tomás Palacios, Professor of Engineering at MIT and director of the Institute for Soldier Nanotechnologies. The closing session will feature the participation of Mercedes Zarzalejo, Minister of Education, Science, and Universities of the Community of Madrid.

During the two days, representatives from academia, business, public administrations, and the innovation ecosystem will meet with the purpose of promoting cooperation, knowledge transfer, public-private collaboration, and talent generation around strategic value chains.

The event represents an opportunity to learn firsthand about the challenges and opportunities of critical technologies, establish contacts with key players in the innovative ecosystem, and contribute to positioning Madrid as a European hub for knowledge, advanced industry, and technological talent.
