Bankinter has concluded the stock market day this Thursday with a strong drop of 7.56%, leaving the price of its shares at 14.13 euros and positioning itself as the most punished stock of the main Spanish index, which has retreated more than 2.12%, pressured by the financial sector, to 18,913 points.

This market correction comes despite the fact that the entity chaired by Gloria Ortiz has reported a net profit attributed of over 900 million euros until September, which represents an 11% increase compared to the same period of the previous year.

With this crash, the bank records its worst day on the market in about a year and a half. To find a more pronounced drop, one must go back to April 2025, when its shares fell by 9.31%, to 8.862 euros per share, following the announcement of the new tariff plan by then-President of the United States, Donald Trump.

Regarding the business figures, the interest margin in the first nine months of the year improved by 5.68%, to 1,761 million euros, supported by "higher business volumes and good management of the spreads," as detailed by the financial entity.

For its part, the gross margin, which encompasses all revenues, increased by 6.49% year-on-year, to 2,397 million euros, driven by the good performance of the commission item.

"The results we have published follow the consensus, they are perfectly aligned," emphasized Bankinter's CFO, Jacobo Díaz, at the press conference following the presentation of the quarterly accounts, trying to dissociate the crash on the Madrid stock market from the figures presented.

Díaz's view coincides with that of several analysis firms, which also find no clear reasons for the strong correction in the stock market. "The market reaction is exaggerated. The interest margin was in line with the consensus; commissions were slightly weaker due to lower intermediation activity and the seasonal impact on currency commissions, while transactional commissions met expectations," the experts from Jefferies noted in a recent report.

In this context, the investment bank considers that the current level of quotation offers an "attractive" entry point. Thus, the firm maintains that there is "practically nothing" in the accounts of the orange bank that points to "downward revisions" of the consensus profit for 2027, which is why it has upgraded its recommendation to buy and set a target price of 18 euros per share.

Taking as a reference the closing of this Thursday —14.13 euros per share—, the upside potential of the orange bank exceeds 27%.

According to the consensus of analysts from Bloomberg compiled by Europa Press, 12 firms recommend buying shares of Bankinter, 10 advise holding them, and only 6 opt to sell. In this scenario, the average target price is set at 17.06 euros.

After the downward adjustment recorded in this session, the orange bank has erased all the accumulated revaluation in the stock market so far this year and is practically at the same level as at the beginning of 2026 (+0.36%).
