CaixaBank has entered the debt market this Thursday with the issuance of a 'green' senior preferred bond for a total of 1,000 million euros, an operation that has attracted orders of 4,500 million euros, thereby setting a record high in demand for the entity in this type of placement.
The initial reference for the price was set at 100 basis points over the 'mid swap', although strong investor appetite has made it possible to reduce the spread to 70 basis points. Finally, the coupon has been set at 3.875%.
"Despite the geopolitical context, CaixaBank has benefited from an especially favorable window for the credit and interest rate markets, which have shown a significant improvement after the US 'midterms'. Thanks to this, the transaction attracted strong demand from institutional investors," the bank has explained.
With this issuance, the entity moves forward in the execution of its funding plan through 2026, while anticipating the management of upcoming maturities and continuing to expand and diversify its investor base.
In the transaction, the placing banks, together with CaixaBank, were BNP Paribas, Goldman Sachs Bank, HSBC, Mediobanca and Natixis.
