The Generalitat, through the Minister of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition, Sílvia Paneque, has demanded that the central Government give the green light to the planning of Red Eléctrica before the electoral date, using the Permanent Deputation for this purpose, according to what "El Periódico" has published and sources from the Department have detailed to Europa Press this Friday.

According to the Generalitat, the plan must ensure the essential electrical connection points for strategic projects such as the artificial intelligence (AI) gigafactory in Móra la Nova (Tarragona), desalination plants, or Media City, in addition to anticipating new substations and high-voltage lines that reinforce the supply in industrial estates and allow progress in the electrification of the economy.

The Government had already begun bilateral meetings with the autonomous communities to present the project, although there are still meetings to be held, and in the Govern there is fear that the electoral calendar will end up delaying the final approval, which is why it has insisted that it be validated before the elections.
