The cooperative group Fagor has concluded the 2025 fiscal year with a turnover of 1,735 million euros. In the general assembly held this Friday at the Garaia Technology Park in Arrasate (Gipuzkoa), the organization has highlighted the capacity for reaction shown by its cooperatives "in situations that were difficult to foresee".
"Fagor cooperatives have once again confirmed their ability to tackle difficult situations, knowing how to adapt to the demands of different challenges. The international context has produced market instability. In this uncertain context, the Group's cooperatives have shown great decision-making capacity," emphasized Fagor's president, Joxean Alustiza.
The group's spokespersons have highlighted that the international environment "has had a direct effect on different sectors," which has required "a great capacity for adaptation" from the cooperatives. They have pointed out that, with the emergence of Chinese companies in the European market, the cooperatives "have had to reinvent themselves by adapting their strategies and their ways of doing things."
In this context, they have detailed that Fagor Ederlan, for example, will soon begin supplying structural components for several electric car models from the Chinese firm Leapmotor, a circumstance that has allowed the reopening of the production plant in Zaragoza (Spain).
Fagor cooperatives have also continued to deepen their diversification policies. Within this line is the initiative of Fagor Arrasate, in collaboration with the research center Funditec, to design, develop, and manufacture industrial humanoid robots.
This year's assembly has also been the last presided over by Alustiza, who ends a 16-year period at the head of the group. His successor will be Igor Herrarte, president of the cooperative Mondragon Assembly, who will become the new president of Fagor. "I leave with peace of mind, knowing that Fagor maintains its essence, and I leave happy, because I see that this cooperative project, so much ours, has a great and promising future," stated the outgoing president.
Likewise, Fagor has dedicated 12% of its profits to its social commitment. In 2025, it allocated 3.1 million euros to social initiatives in various fields (Fagor community, Debagoiena, Basque Country, and global scale).
Among other actions, it supported the initiative for the food sovereignty of Debagoiena Tokixan, various educational projects in the region, the citizen deliberation process for the energy transition Argitzen, the social projects of Arizari (ikastola Arizmendi), Haize Berri and Shifa, as well as the work of the Mundukide Foundation.
