The circulation of the High-Speed line between Madrid and Barcelona has been suspended this Monday after a fire was declared on an AVE train that had left Madrid Puerta de Atocha at 14:27 hours heading to Figueres, as confirmed by Renfe in a statement.

The incident, in which no injuries have occurred, took place around 16:05 hours at the height of Ricla (Zaragoza), at which point a fire was detected in the rear cabin of the train and, following safety protocols, the 283 passengers on board have been evacuated from the train.

This incident has forced the interruption of rail traffic between Madrid and Barcelona, generating train stops at different stations along the route and the cancellation of several scheduled departures for this afternoon.

Renfe has implemented measures to assist affected passengers, including the option to make changes and refunds of tickets at no additional cost.
