Iberia has celebrated the first anniversary of its direct link between Madrid and Orlando (Florida, United States), a route that this year offers more than 100,000 seats and up to four weekly flights, operated with Airbus A330 aircraft with a capacity for 292 passengers.
According to the company in a note, this connection has acquired special significance due to the increase in demand in recent years to travel to this area of the United States, largely driven by interest in Disney theme parks and other tourist attractions in the region.
In the words of its Global Sales Director, Víctor Moneo, the launch of this route was a "success," as it has helped consolidate Iberia's position in the U.S. market and to serve a key destination for European travelers more effectively.
"Nowadays we are the only airline that operates directly between Madrid and Orlando, and the public's reception during this time has been exceptional," the executive added.
This connection is part of the rollout of the Flight Plan 2030 and symbolizes the airline's expansion in North America in recent years. In this same market, Iberia has recently launched its links with Toronto and Newark, which has allowed it to offer nearly 1.9 million seats on its routes with the United States and Canada during this fiscal year.
Additionally, the anniversary of the Madrid-Orlando route coincides with the renewal for three more years of Iberia's agreement as the preferred airline of Disneyland Paris, Walt Disney World, and Disney Cruise Line. In this context, the company currently maintains in Europe an Airbus A320 fully decorated with some of the most emblematic characters from the Disney universe, such as Olaf (Frozen) or Buzz Lightyear (Toy Story).
