The international manager Janus Henderson, together with the 'fintech' Centrifuge, specialized in the tokenization of real-world assets, has launched "JQQQ", considered the first native fund on 'blockchain' technology that provides exposure to the Nasdaq-100 index through an investment strategy backed by the issuer itself, as both firms detailed in a joint statement.
This new investment vehicle has been conceived to be issued and operated directly on a public 'blockchain' network. With this, the aim is to combine the guarantees of a global manager with crypto technology, enabling access to the fund from any digital wallet, its use in other financial services within the network, and a reduction in commission costs for participants.
The management of the fund will fall to Janus Henderson, while the 'onchain' infrastructure and operations are supported by the technological architecture of Centrifuge for this type of fund. The investment strategy aims to replicate the evolution of the Nasdaq-100, counting for this with the corresponding license granted by Nasdaq.
"We are delighted to partner with Nasdaq Global Indexes and Centrifuge for the launch of JQQQ, combining Janus Henderson's investment expertise with an innovative digital infrastructure to respond to the changing needs of our clients," indicated the head of Innovation at Janus Henderson, Nick Cherney.
For his part, the Director of Strategy and Growth at Centrifuge, Anil Sood, emphasized that "tokenization becomes much more powerful when the assets that investors want to own can also become fundamental pieces for an onchain financial system."
