The Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, has described as "inexplicable" the decision taken by the Adif control center in Atocha to order that the Renfe AVE resume its journey, despite the system showing a red warning alerting that the Iryo train traveling ahead was still occupying the track.

Puente offered these explanations to the media from the Atocha control center itself, which he went to this morning to gather data with which to clarify the accident recorded in Urda (Toledo), which occurred hours earlier and has so far caused the death of at least 64 people.

Regarding the person responsible who authorized the continuation of the AVE journey, the Transport Minister has indicated that said person has already been identified and remains pending what the open inquiries determine. "We have not spoken with him, understand the seriousness of the facts and of the responsibilities that this may entail," he emphasized.
