Renfe has decided to extend, in principle until next November 12, the alternative road transport plan between Madrid, Ciudad Real and Puertollano. This measure was launched on October 31 following the interruption of rail traffic on the Madrid-Andalucía high-speed line, the company said in a statement.
The service is fully covered with buses and has 100 seats per trip, distributed across two vehicles. Eight daily services are offered departing from Madrid and another eight from Puertollano, which become seven in the latter case during weekends.
The extension of the plan applies from Wednesday 4 to Thursday 12 November, inclusive on both days, and guarantees road connections between the three cities in both directions.
EIGHT DAILY DEPARTURES FROM MADRID
The buses depart from Madrid-Atocha Cercanías, on Calle Méndez Álvaro, at 8:00, 10:30, 12:00, 14:00, 16:30, 18:00, 20:00 and 22:30 hours. The journey to Ciudad Real has an estimated duration of two and a half hours and continues afterwards to Puertollano, where arrival takes place approximately half an hour later.
In the opposite direction, departures from Puertollano take place at 4:45 hours, only on working days, and at 6:45, 8:15, 10:00, 12:00, 15:30, 18:15 and 20:15 hours every day. The buses make a stop in Ciudad Real about 30 minutes after departing and arrival in Madrid is scheduled three hours after departure.
Renfe maintains for affected travelers the option to make changes and cancellations without any additional cost. The timetables for this alternative plan can be consulted on the company’s website, at the stations, and by calling customer information phone number 912 320 320.
