Renfe has calculated that the strike call by the Sindicato Español de Maquinistas Ferroviarios (Semaf) this Thursday had an average follow-through of 26.6%. According to the data provided by the operator, adherence was 2.19% on the night shift, 23.84% on the morning shift, and 34.06% on the afternoon shift.

As a result of these stoppages, 16.9% of commercial service trains (AVE, Avlo, Alvia, Euromed and Intercity) have been canceled, which translates into 21 cancellations out of a total of 124 planned runs, according to the information released by the company.

In the high-speed segment, the greatest impact is concentrated in the Levante corridor, where 9 of the 24 scheduled trains have not run (37.5%), and in the Northeast corridor (Madrid-Cataluña), with 2 cancellations out of the 28 planned runs (7.1%).

In the Alvia network, the main incidents have been recorded in the North corridor, which links Madrid with Asturias, Navarra and Castilla y León, where 15.4% of the planned services have been canceled (2 of 13 trains).

In the Mediterranean corridor, the Euromed service has only seen 1 of the 10 planned trains canceled, which represents 10%, while in Intercity the only train that had departure scheduled for today has been canceled.

Among the affected commercial trains are long-distance connections such as Madrid-Barcelona and Barcelona-Madrid; Madrid-Figueres; Madrid-Valencia and Castelló-Madrid, as well as services originating in or destined for Pamplona and Alicante.

As for the Public Services (Cercanías, Rodalies, Avant and Media Distancia), the plan envisaged 2,807 trains, of which 606 have not run, which is equivalent to a reduction of 21.59% over the established minimum services.

The greatest disruptions have been concentrated in Cercanías Madrid, where 487 of the 599 planned trains have been affected, which represents 81.3% of the scheduled runs.

Incidents have also stood out in the East area, with 38 trains affected out of a total of 560 (6.79%), especially in Cercanías Murcia and Avant; in Andalucía, with 27 cancellations out of 421 services (6.41%); and in Rodalies de Catalunya, where 6.4% of the trains have been canceled.

In the rest of the autonomous communities the incidents have been more limited and have been concentrated mainly in Cercanías, although some isolated disruptions have also occurred in Media Distancia, Avant and other suburban rail services.

Renfe stresses that it deeply respects –"as could not be otherwise," it adds– the strike right of its staff, but at the same time regrets the inconveniences that this day of stoppages may cause users.

The company recalls that changes and cancellations without additional cost have been made available to travelers for the trains scheduled today, and insists on the recommendation to avoid travel as far as possible.

In addition, passengers whose trains are affected will receive alerts by SMS or email, using the contact details associated with each reservation.
