The Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Elma Saiz, has underlined this Thursday that the Spanish labor market has closed a "historic" first semester, by adding 621,925 new affiliates to Social Security.

In a video intervention to assess the affiliation figures corresponding to June, Saiz has remarked that the month concluded with more than 22.4 million contributors, after the creation of more than 128,000 jobs compared to May and 605,244 additional affiliates compared to June 2025.

By eliminating the calendar effect and seasonality, the head of Inclusion has indicated that Social Security has now chained together 65 consecutive months of employment growth, which allows consolidating the level of 22.2 million affiliates.

"We are breaking historical barriers in almost all records. From daily affiliation, with more than 22.5 million affiliates on June 15 and 19, to female employment. We are more than 10.6 million workers. And also in the self-employed sector, where we are close to 3.5 million affiliates," the minister has emphasized.

Furthermore, she has stressed that the new jobs present better quality in the set of professional activities and in all age groups.

"Spain thus prolongs the intense dynamism of its labor market, which behaves more favorably than the main European economies. Let's not forget that Spain has contributed 54.5% of the employment created in the European Union in the first quarter of 2026," Saiz has concluded.
