Spain experienced in 2025 a rebound of 5.3% in the number of people with net worths above one million euros, reaching 259,700 (13,100 more than a year earlier), driven mainly by stock market gains and housing appreciation, according to the World Wealth Report 2026 prepared by Capgemini.
With this advance, Spain rises to position 14 within the list of the 25 countries with the largest number of high-net-worth individuals, gaining one place compared to the previous year.
The study includes those who have investable assets valued at a minimum of one million dollars, excluding primary residence, collections, consumer goods, and durable goods.
The consultancy details that the increase in wealth in Spain is supported by the favorable performance of financial markets, as well as the strength of the banking and real estate sectors. Specifically, Spanish stock market capitalization denominated in dollars soared by 71.6% in 2025, after the drop recorded in 2024. This rebound was backed by solid corporate earnings and the good performance of the banking sector, which registered a net profit of 18.5 billion euros, up 5.1% year-on-year.
The real estate market also played a key role in the increase in high-net-worth individuals. Investment in real estate in Spain exceeded 18.45 billion euros in 2025, an increase of 31% compared to 2024, while housing prices advanced by 9% in that period.
Globally, the wealth of high-net-worth individuals grew by 8.7% in 2025, reaching a historic high of 98.3 trillion dollars (84.7 trillion euros), the largest annual increase since 2018. The global number of millionaires increased by almost 2 million people, reaching 25.3 million.
Capgemini emphasizes that this boom in the wealthy, both in Spain and internationally, occurs in a context of strong competition in private banking. In 2019, 39% of high-net-worth individuals dealt with a single wealth management firm. In 2025, that percentage fell to 19%. Among the main reasons, according to the report, is access to financial products: 88% of high-net-worth individuals declare that they collaborate with several entities to take advantage of better alternative investment opportunities.
