The assets managed by collective investment institutions (IIC) increased by 6.79% during the first six months of 2026, reaching 517.570 billion euros, according to statistics released this Tuesday by the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).
At the end of June, investment funds totaled 489.477 billion euros, representing a 6.71% increase during the period. Investment companies managed 18.693 billion, with an increase of 8.60%, while the IIC of free investment accumulated 790 million euros, after a decline of 2.95% in the first half of the year.
In parallel, the IIC specialized in the real estate sector accounted for assets of 1.046 billion euros in the first half of the fiscal year, representing a decrease of 0.76% compared to the beginning of the year.
The foreign IIC marketed in Spain, which group both funds and foreign companies distributed in the country, reached assets of 396.615 billion euros in the accumulated total for the first six months, implying an increase of 16.09% compared to the same period of the previous year. Only in the second quarter, the increase was 32.52%.
Regarding the number of participants, the collective investment institutions gathered up to June 19.18 million investors, of which 19.06 million corresponded to investment funds. These figures represent a growth of 6.85% in the first half of the year and an upward variation of 9.92% in the second quarter.
At the same time, the foreign IIC marketed in Spain closed the semester with 12.72 million participants, which translates to an increase of 25.58% year-on-year and 45.42% in the second quarter of the fiscal year.
The total number of strategies of the collective investment institutions stood at 2,044 at the end of the first half of 2026, 1.04% more than a year earlier, although with a slight decrease of 0.24% in the second quarter.
Within this set, the IIC of free investment saw the largest increase, ending June with 189 strategies after incorporating 20 new ones in the second quarter.
On the other hand, the foreign IIC marketed in Spain recorded a 3.04% increase in the number of strategies in the first half of the year, reaching a total of 1,219.
