The Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE) has described as "especially worrying" that structural unemployment remains above 10% "in a context where numerous unfilled vacancies continue to exist".
For the employers' association, this scenario highlights the urgency of addressing the labor market situation with a "strategic and long-term" vision.
In this regard, the CEOE insists on strengthening coordination between active and passive employment policies and undertaking a thorough reform of the lifelong training system for employment, in order to increase employability and adapt it to the needs of a constantly changing market.
At the same time, the organization calls for adjusting the regulatory framework to the country's productive reality to allow for a "more efficient filling of vacancies and correction of existing structural imbalances".
The entity chaired by Antonio Garamendi emphasizes that companies maintained their commitment to employment in June, with a rebound in affiliation of 128,533 people, the highest increase in a June month since 2021, accompanied by a decrease in unemployment of nearly 29,000 people.
"These figures consolidate the usually positive trend of employment in the month of June, with generalized growth in most territories and sectors, particularly in activities linked to tourism," the CEOE stated in a note.
However, the employers' association focuses on the decline in affiliation in the Agricultural System, with both monthly and year-on-year falls, a trend that the organization associates with the accumulated effect of successive minimum wage increases "in an unfavorable tariff context for national products".
Likewise, the business organization has warned of the "deterioration" of employment in micro-enterprises, where there was barely a 0.3% increase, compared to a 4.5% advance in larger companies, which, in its opinion, reflects "a growing business gap".
