The four airports of Moscow, the capital of Russia, implemented temporary restrictions on air traffic this Friday due to a security situation, a measure that led to the complete evacuation of Sheremetyevo, the largest airport in the country by capacity and passenger volume.
For several hours, the arrival and departure operations of airplanes were reduced at the aerodromes of Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Zhukovski, and Sheremetyevo, with the aim of "ensuring the safety of flights," according to the Federal Air Transport Agency of Russia, cited by the Tass agency.
In light of this scenario, several of these airports warned travelers about possible changes to the schedules of flights planned for this Friday. As the hours passed, all of them gradually resumed their usual operations, although the most delicate situation was recorded at Sheremetyevo, where an alert for an air attack forced the evacuation of the premises.
Passengers were evacuated and access to the security areas of all terminals was restricted, where airport staff has guided people to safe zones.
