The Ibex 35 of the Madrid Stock Exchange has started the session this Wednesday with a rise of 0.63%, up to 19,878.7 points, thus consolidating above the 19,700 mark, a level it managed to maintain on Tuesday.
However, after the first minutes of trading, around 9:15 a.m., the selective moderated its advance to 0.25% and was positioned at 19,805 points.
Investors will remain very attentive today to the evolution of the situation in the Middle East, after the meeting held between the President of the United States (USA), Donald Trump, and the Iranian delegation that traveled to New York for the UN General Assembly.
Trump stated yesterday, in remarks to the press, that his meeting with Iranian representatives went "very well." "It was a meeting that lasted three hours. It was a very good meeting. I must say it was very good," indicated the American president in the presence of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.
"I can't imagine why they wouldn't want to do it. It's greatness, potential greatness, or annihilation. I mean, in one case it's annihilation, and the other alternative is potential greatness. It could be a great country," added Trump.
The head of Iranian diplomacy reportedly agreed to meet with the American negotiator at his "insistence," to whom he conveyed the conditions of the Islamic Republic for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz: the lifting of the blockade imposed by Washington on its ports, the release of all its frozen assets, and the end of hostilities on "all" fronts.
In this context, the price of Brent crude oil, a reference in Europe, fell by 0.7% at the opening of European markets, down to $98.4, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI), a reference in the USA, dropped by 1.4%, down to $89.3 per barrel.
At the start of trading this Wednesday on the Madrid Stock Exchange, the most bullish values of the Ibex 35 were Caixabank (+1.8%), Unicaja (+1.6%), Repsol (+1.58%), and Bankinter (+1.4%).
On the opposite side, the only corrections in the early stages of the day were recorded in Solaria (-0.23%), Grifols (-0.21%), and Rovi (-0.17%).
At the same time, the main European stock exchanges leaned towards green at the start of the day: Milan and Paris advanced by 0.5%, Frankfurt gained 0.3%, and London added 0.4%.
In the foreign exchange market, the euro was retreating against the dollar, changing in the markets to 1.1428 "greenbacks," while in sovereign debt the yield of the Spanish ten-year bond was falling to 3.887%.
