The deputy secretary of Economy and Sustainable Development of the Popular Party, Alberto Nadal, has lashed out at the Government for making public, "without any dialogue" with the PP, the appointment of professor Juan José Ganuza as the new president of the National Commission on Markets and Competition (CNMC), along with that of three other councilors of the regulatory body.

"It has limited itself to informing minutes before. Then it is surprised that the independence of the CNMC is doubted," lamented the popular leader in a message disseminated on the social network X and reported by Europa Press, thus questioning the procedure followed by the Executive.

This Tuesday, the Council of Ministers, at the proposal of the first vice president and minister of Economy, Commerce and Business, Carlos Cuerpo, has given the green light to the appointment of Juan José Ganuza Fernández as president of the CNMC and to that of three new councilors: Carmen Balsa, Marina Echebarría and Joan Capdevila, who will join the plenary session of the supervisor.

In accordance with Law 3/2013, of June 4, on the creation of the CNMC, the candidates must appear before the Commission on Economy and Digital Transformation of Congress before their definitive appointment by the Council of Ministers by Royal Decree.

The position is held for a period of six years and does not contemplate the possibility of re-election, so the mandate is unique and non-renewable.
