The Consumer Price Index (CPI) of Chile ended September with a year-on-year variation of 4.1%, the same level recorded in August, according to the figures published this Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
In monthly terms, inflation decreased by two tenths and stood at 0.4%. The core rate, which excludes the components of food and energy due to their greater volatility, fell three tenths to 0.1%, after food prices increased by 0.6% and energy by 1.9%.
By activity sectors, the monthly increases in clothing and footwear (2.3%), transportation (0.9%), and in the sections of telecommunications and non-alcoholic food and beverages, both at 0.6%, stood out.
On the opposite side, the price of insurance and financial services fell by 5.9%, while alcoholic beverages and tobacco decreased by 0.3% and restaurants and accommodation services dropped by 0.2%.
