Salvador Illa intensifies his institutional agenda in California with political, technological, and business meetings. This has been confirmed by Demócrata from Generalitat sources. Since last Tuesday, until after the weekend, the Catalan president is immersed in an institutional trip to the United States focused on reinforcing Catalonia's international projection, attracting investments, and strengthening ties with some of the world's leading technological and scientific innovation hubs.
The visit, taking place in the state of California, is part of a strategy by the Government to strengthen economic relations and position Catalonia in strategic sectors such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, entrepreneurship, and the technology industry.
The trip, which will last several days, also includes the participation of members of the Catalan Executive and institutional representatives. Among them is the Minister of European Union and External Action, Jaume Duch, who is participating in various meetings included in the official agenda.
The institutional activity has been concentrated mainly in the San Francisco area and the Silicon Valley ecosystem, where Illa has held an intensive round of meetings with business representatives, technology leaders, entrepreneurs, and research centers.
Meeting with Technology Entrepreneurs
Wednesday's agenda was marked by engagement with the new technologies and business innovation sector. The president began this day with a meeting with entrepreneurs from the technological field in Menlo Park before visiting the international innovation platform Plug and Play, one of the reference spaces for the development of startups and emerging projects.
Subsequently, Illa held a meeting with students and members of the educational community at Stanford University, where he also visited the Stanford Mussallem Center for Biodesign, a center specializing in innovation applied to the healthcare and technology fields.
The agenda continued with a meeting with Catalan startups based in Silicon Valley and several meetings with leading companies in the technology sector. Among them, the president held meetings with executives from Super Micro Computer, NVIDIA, and SiFive, during a day focused on exploring collaboration and investment opportunities.
The day concluded with a meeting of an economic and financial nature in which the minister Jaume Duch participated alongside businessmen from the financial sector and representatives from the venture capital and Venture Capital sphere.
Thursday's Agenda
This Thursday's agenda incorporated an institutional and academic component. Illa began the day in Sacramento with a meeting with the President of the California Senate and, subsequently, with the state's Lieutenant Governor, in a series of contacts aimed at strengthening political and institutional relations between both administrations.
Subsequently, the President of the Generalitat visited the Institute of Water Resources at the University of California, where he addressed issues related to water resource management and applied research.
The agenda also reserved space for the Catalan business fabric established in the United States, with a visit to the Artesa Winery of Codorníu, located in Napa, and concluding with a visit to the Berkeley Artificial Intelligence Research Lab, one of the international reference centers in artificial intelligence research.
This institutional trip by Salvador Illa represents the Government's commitment to reinforcing Catalonia's external presence and consolidating alliances in areas considered strategic for economic and technological development.
