The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has determined the minimum services that must be provided by Renfe during the strike called by the Spanish Railway Signalmen Union (Semaf) for Tuesday 10 and Thursday 12 November, a protest that affects the staff of the rail operator.
Renfe has detailed that the percentages set by Transport are between 20% in the Freight area and 75% in the time bands with the highest demand in Cercanías. In this latter service, the minimums have been organized by time schedules: during peak hours, 75% of the usual services will be guaranteed and, for the rest of the day, 50% of the normal service.
The company has specified that the schedule considered to be of maximum influx comprises three differentiated periods: from 06:00 to 09:00 hours, from 13:30 to 15:30 hours, and from 18:30 to 20:30 hours, in which the offer will be reinforced to ensure essential mobility.
As for Medium Distance trains, the Ministry has established minimum services equivalent, on average, to 65% of the connections planned. For High Speed and Long Distance services, minimum coverage has been set at 72% with respect to the number of trains scheduled in a normal day.
In the Freight transport segment, the level of service will be the lowest of all categories, being limited to 20% of the initially planned services, according to the information provided by the public operator.
Lastly, Renfe has conveyed that "it regrets the inconvenience that this strike may cause to travelers".
