Wizz Air has announced this morning the launch of two operational bases in Madrid and Valencia starting next November, a move that will allow it to increase its capacity, expand its network of connections, and create more than 160 direct jobs.

The first base to begin operating will be Valencia, on November 2nd. The airline will assign two state-of-the-art Airbus A321neo aircraft and will offer a total of 23 routes connecting to eight countries.

This opening will imply a 76% increase in the company's capacity at the Valencian airport, reaching 3.6 million available seats. Likewise, the new base will mean the creation of more than 80 direct jobs and more than 2,500 indirect jobs.

One day later, on November 3rd, Wizz Air will launch its base in Madrid, also with two Airbus A321neo aircraft. From the Spanish capital, it will operate 27 routes in 12 countries and will increase its capacity by 48%, reaching 4.8 million seats for sale. The company estimates that this base will generate more than 80 direct jobs and more than 3,000 indirect job opportunities.

With these new bases, Wizz Air takes another step in consolidating its presence in the Spanish market. Currently, the airline flies to 16 airports in the country, with a network of 151 routes to 15 countries, although until now it did not have any base in national territory, and has transported more than 15 million passengers in Spain throughout its 22 years of operations.

This expansion is part of the company's growth strategy, which includes continuing to increase its offering by relying on a fleet composed of Airbus A321neo aircraft, a model that reduces fuel consumption and emissions compared to previous generations, prioritizing efficiency and sustainability.

During the presentation, Wizz Air CEO József Váradi stated that the company is "delighted" to open its first bases in Spain, a decision that, as he explained, reflects the airline's commitment to the Spanish market and its intention to continue growing in the country with new routes, greater capacity, and more employment opportunities.
