The spokesperson for the Socialist Parliamentary Group in Congress, Patxi López, has insisted that the Socialist Party has made available to the courts "all the information, absolutely all that it has". As he has underlined, "the last ticket, the last invoice, the last contract is in the hands of justice, and it is justice's time".

In this context, he has expressed his desire for justice to "go all the way", at which point "whatever responsibilities there may be" will be determined. López has stressed that it will be at that point when what happened will be completely clarified.

The socialist leader made these statements in Bilbao, after being asked about the latest developments in the alleged 'Leire Díez case' plot. According to a document found on Díez's mobile phone by the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard, she had proposed to retired commissioner José Manuel Villarejo, investigated in the 'Tándem' macro-case, a possible agreement with the Prosecutor's Office in exchange for data on politicians, businessmen, and police commanders.

This content appears in a report by the UCO sent to the National High Court judge Santiago Pedraz, who is investigating an alleged network intended to destabilize judicial proceedings affecting the PSOE and the Government. According to these investigations, the plot was headed by the former socialist Organization Secretary Santos Cerdán and coordinated by the former party member Leire Díez.

Before speaking at the presentation in Bilbao of Alicia Ayala's book, "De lo vivido. Memorias políticas", López emphasized that, while these proceedings are underway, the PSOE will continue, as pointed out this morning by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, to "govern and put policies for the people on the table".

"ABSOLUTELY NOTHING" about Leire Díaz

The spokesperson for the Socialist Group has assured that he has not said "absolutely anything" about Leire Díaz, beyond acknowledging that he knew her from having met her at various events in Cantabria and even having taken photos together. "I have not said that I do not believe or do not believe anything," he stressed.

Asked about the UCO investigation, which maintains that the alleged plot by Cerdán and Leire Díaz "was to protect the president," López has reiterated that all documentation and data available to the PSOE "is with the justice system and that the justice system should determine what it has to determine." He has thus defended that it is exclusively up to the judges to clarify the facts and, if applicable, assign responsibilities.
