The Socialist Parliamentary Group in the Assembly of Extremadura has presented a total amendment to the General Budgets of Extremadura (PGEx) for 2027, understanding that the new accounts lack the "transformative ambition" that, in their opinion, the autonomous community needs.

The parliamentary spokesperson for the PSOE, Isabel Gil Rosiña, has pointed out that, although the figures increase "a little" compared to the budgets of 2026 thanks to the "good state of the economy," the contribution that the Junta should assume "is not written."

"It is a budget that grows, but lacks the transformative ambition that the region needs and that we need to converge with the Spanish average. It does not want to transform the reality of Extremadura. It is a budget that grows but it is a budget that has no ambition to transform the reality of the people of Extremadura," she stated at a press conference.

According to Gil Rosiña, in the budget project for 2027, the "lack of ambition" of the regional Executive is reflected in the "objective data" that economic policies are being reduced.

"The housing policy, for example, only increases slightly by 0.8 percent, employment policies decrease. The policies that should serve as a lever for transformation taking advantage of that very good national context are not promoted in accounts that grow by more than 400 million euros," she asserted.

Criticism of Guardiola for her fiscal policy and public services

In this same line, the socialist spokesperson has denounced that the president of the Junta, María Guardiola, "has decided to embrace the powerful" when drafting the accounts for the next fiscal year, by "giving 28 million euros" to the electricity companies that manage the Almaraz Nuclear Power Plant.

Likewise, she has considered that "this embracing of the powerful" implies, for her party, "stopping to continue betting on strengthening fundamental public services," among them health and education, which, she said, "are gradually and stealthily being destroyed" in the three years of mandate.

For this reason, the Socialist Parliamentary Group has formalized this amendment to the entirety in which it demands the return of the budget project. "Our amendment not only dismantles what we believe is perverse for the region, but also provides the basis on which criteria we would make accounts in Extremadura, based on what policies and the promotion of what policies we would implement or what we would do with these more than 9,000 million euros to transform the region and improve the lives of the people of Extremadura," he emphasized.

They demand clarifications for dismissals in Education and in the Extremadura Orchestra

On the other hand, Gil Rosiña has demanded explanations from the Ministry of Education for the new dismissal of the Secretary General of Education, a position that has been replaced "three times".

"The Administration and the government cannot be a joke, because that is not the respect that citizens deserve," he stressed, while defending that the teaching staff needs a Secretary General "not part-time or on demand, but concerned and committed to the education of Extremadura."

In this way, the socialist spokesperson has censured that "things are happening in this region that have never happened before," and has warned that if they are taken "as good," a point will be reached where "anything goes and being a member of the government will be a farce."

To these criticisms, she has added the demand for clarifications regarding the dismissal of the manager of the Extremadura Orchestra, Hae Won Oh. "We already know how this government works. We know it because there have been more than 100 dismissals since Guardiola became president, in the Extremadura Health Service," she assured.
