The general secretary of the PSdeG, José Ramón Gómez Besteiro, has censured the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, for resorting to the 69 deceased in the Urda railway disaster to demand that the unions abandon the general strike on November 11. "The strike is to defend the rights to which the PP opposed itself and which it now threatens to cut back. If he feels alluded to, there must be a reason," he has pointed out.

In a note sent to the media, Besteiro alludes thus to the statements made by the popular leader during an informative breakfast organized by Europa Press, in which he asked the trade union centrals to reconsider the calling of the stoppage.

"It is unheard of that someone who aspires to preside over the Government of Spain should resort to the pain of the victims and their families to halt the strike over wages and housing that was called three weeks before the tragedy," the socialist leader has stated.

Besteiro has insisted that "no one called this strike against the PP" and that "if Feijóo feels alluded to it will be because he knows very well what he voted for." Next, he recalled that last October 2 the PP, together with Vox and Junts, rejected in Congress the Government's housing decrees, among them the one that prevented evicting vulnerable people and extended the rental contracts that expired this year; and that in September 2025 it voted against reducing the working day to 37 and a half hours without salary reduction.
