The content creator Ibai Llanos has announced that he will organize an electoral debate with four candidates for the Presidency of the Government on his YouTube channel during the upcoming month of November, coinciding with the campaign for the general elections on November 29.
"I take this thread to announce that I will hold the electoral debate next month on my YouTube channel with the 4 candidates for the presidency of this country," Llanos published on his X account.
The announcement opens the possibility of holding an electoral debate on a digital platform outside of traditional television networks. However, Ibai has not yet specified which four candidates will attend the meeting, whether their teams have confirmed participation, or when the broadcast will take place.
An electoral debate outside traditional television
The initiative would transfer one of the main formats of the electoral campaign to YouTube, a platform where Llanos has developed much of his activity as a content creator and organizer of major broadcasts.
The announcement comes at a time when political parties are defining their presence in the media during the 29N campaign. Interviews on entertainment programs and content disseminated on social media are already part of the communication strategies of the main parties.
In this context, the debate proposed by Llanos would incorporate a new scenario for the confrontation of proposals between candidates, with a digital distribution and a potentially different audience than that of conventional television debates.
The parties negotiate the debates on November 16 and 26
The proposal from the content creator coincides with negotiations to organize the electoral debates in the coming weeks.
According to sources from the PSOE conveyed to Demócrata, the socialists have agreed to participate in a face-to-face organized by private media on November 16 and in a four-way debate called by RTVE for November 26.
Pedro Sánchez's party defends repeating the scheme of the general elections on July 23, 2023, when a face-to-face took place between Sánchez and Alberto Núñez Feijóo on Atresmedia and a four-way debate on RTVE, which the leader of the PP did not attend.
The initiative announced by Ibai would join these meetings, although for now it has not been confirmed whether the four candidates he refers to will be the same ones participating in the public television debate.
The identity of the participants, the date, and the conditions of the meeting remain pending, aspects that will determine the scope of the proposal during the electoral campaign.
