The vice president and acting president of the Principality of Asturias, Gimena Llamedo, has supported the reform of the Tobacco Law that expands smoke-free spaces and has reiterated that "the priority is the health of people." For this reason, she has stated that, "although she understands the criticisms from the hospitality sector, she is sure that there will be no impact on it and that life will go on as normal."

Llamedo has reminded that "the main thing is the health of people and in this case when the Tobacco Law was promoted, we all also remember all the criticisms that there were and now looking back, we see the necessity of increasingly restricting those spaces."

In this line, she has expressed support for strengthening the protection of public spaces where "families and children" coincide, despite the objections raised by the hospitality employers.

The Asturian leader has added: "I understand the criticisms. I understand the fears before knowing what the reality will be, but I am sure that the sector, just as it has been adapting, will know how to do it again. Above all, I trust in the citizens, in the tourists, in the Asturians that just as all the anti-tobacco laws were complied with and when we take stock, we see the positive of all this now they will go in the same direction."
