The spokesperson of the PP in the Parliament, Sebastià Sagreras, has lashed out at the PSIB for its criticisms of the management of the regional government regarding housing and has stated that the socialists "are the vulture funds because they have them in their positions."

During the second day of the General Policy Debate, the 'popular' deputy supported the intervention of the president of the Govern, Marga Prohens, of whom he said "is obsessed with the challenges of the Balearic Islands."

Against this "model," Sagreras pointed out, the left would have limited itself to "demanding measures that they never took when they governed." In this line, he emphasized that the results of the work of the current Govern, in certain areas, "may take time to be seen."

Regarding housing, he pointed out that the "so disastrous" evolution of the last eight years "cannot be reversed immediately in just three and a half years." In his opinion, the problem of access to housing and the tourism situation "are a legacy of 2023."

The PP parliamentarian has focused a good part of his speech on detailing "how the ineffectiveness" of the Government of Spain has affected the Balearic Islands in areas such as housing, irregular immigration, the Fiscal Regime of the Balearic Islands, the financing system, the road agreement, the railway network, or the management of airports.

Among other aspects, he referred to the autonomous financing system, lamenting that "it does not include any claim" from the society of the Islands; and he also criticized the debt forgiveness, which he described as "another deception."

For the 'popular' spokesperson, the president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, "has been the worst possible president in absolutely everything." Furthermore, he has assured that "there is no president in Spain in democracy who has done less public housing than Sánchez."

Sagreras has also emphasized that the PP consolidates its support in the Balearic Islands and that, "according to forecasts," the party is close to achieving an absolute majority in May 2027. In parallel, he has pointed out that the central government "is finally approaching the end of its days."

In his second turn, the 'popular' has claimed that the president "has fulfilled all the announcements" made in the previous General Policy Debates and has defended her "credibility" against the accusations of the PSIB.

Likewise, he has assured that "with the PP, pensions and their revaluation are guaranteed." "Whenever it has governed, it has not only guaranteed them but has also revalued them," he emphasized.

Measures and infrastructures in Formentera

The deputy for Formentera, Llorenç Córdoba, has detailed the actions and projects promoted on the island, and has expressed his gratitude to the Govern for the support offered during this legislature.

Among other points, he has highlighted the advances in the compliance and recognition of the triple insularity. "Now we need to ensure that it is a stable and structural criterion," he claimed.

He has also highlighted the reform related to the senator for Formentera, which he described as "a collective success" resulting from a sustained demand by numerous generations.

In his second intervention, Córdoba has requested that the ordinary capacity and the situation of migratory contingency be calculated for each insular council, reminding that the Balearic Islands is the only autonomous community where the guardianship of minors falls on the councils, while the state calculation is based on the entirety of the Balearic territory.

The deputy for Formentera has urged the Govern to formally convey this proposal to the Government of Spain.
