The director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation of the United States (FBI), Kash Patel, reported this Wednesday the arrest of an individual who was allegedly preparing a terrorist attack against the largest shopping mall in the country, located in the city of Minneapolis, acting on behalf of the Islamic State.

"Another attack with multiple victims inspired by the Islamic State has been thwarted," he celebrated on his social media, where he specified that the "terrorist allegedly wanted to massacre between 30 and 60 innocent Americans at the Mall of America."

Patel, who has not revealed the identity of the suspect, explained that the man "obtained an AK-type rifle and 200 rounds, encountered the FBI," emphasizing that the agency arrested him "before he could harm a single American."

"The FBI is locating terrorists before they can attack Americans, and we will continue to use all the resources at our disposal to dismantle their networks across the country. This FBI does not wait for terrorists to attack. We locate them, dismantle their plans, and handcuff them," he concluded, while acknowledging the work of the FBI agents in Minneapolis.
