At least 13 people have lost their lives and about ten have been injured after an attack by the Russian Army with a drone against the railway station of the city of Dnipró, in eastern Ukraine, an action that the local authorities have described as "terrorist" on the part of Moscow.
"A terrible Russian attack against the train station of Dnipró. The Russians used a drone to attack a platform where there were a commuter train and another passenger train," has informed the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, in a message circulated on networks.
The head of state has specified that the number of deceased stands at 13 and that another ten people have been injured, with four of them in serious condition.
"How many similar terrorist attacks has Russia perpetrated against our people after the lifting of sanctions on some Russian oligarchs and the energy sector, instead of reducing tension?", the Ukrainian leader has asked himself, who has urged the United States and Europe to adopt "decisive" measures in the face of Moscow's military escalation.
Zelenski has insisted that the sanctions against Russia "must not be softened while this war continues" and has called for the EU, the United States and the G7 to "adopt new, more forceful sanction measures".
Before, the governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region, Oleksandr Ganzha, had been updating the situation at the station after the impact against a train that covered the route between Dnipró and Zaporiyia and that was stopped at the platforms, where the travelers were waiting to board.
The attack has occurred despite the existence of a high-risk alert in the area, after during the night other bombings were recorded in the Dnipropetrovsk region that have left at least one injured in the same city.
In parallel, the Ukrainian authorities have denounced another five fatalities and dozens of injured in several attacks launched this Thursday by the Russian forces against the cities of Kremenchuk and Chernígov.
The governor of Poltava, Vitali Diakivnich, has reported the death of three people and about fifteen injured in Kremenchuk, after a drone crashed against a residential block.
Meanwhile, in Chernígov, its mayor, Dimitro Brizhinski, has also reported drone attacks on the urban center. "Ordinary people, who were simply going to work, carrying out their daily activities and making plans for the day, were attacked," he denounced on his social networks.
He has indicated that at least two teenagers have died and another 23 people have been injured, including four minors. "This is true terror against the civilian population. There is no justification for those who take the lives of innocent people," he stated.
International reaction to the attack
After the attack on Dnipró became known, the French president, Emmanuel Macron, has conveyed his support to Zelenski and the Ukrainian people, denouncing that Russia is intensifying its offensive against the neighboring country and calling for redoubled efforts to achieve a "just and lasting peace".
"We must aspire to much more than a localized ceasefire, like the one that has just been negotiated locally in Oleshki. It is intolerable that Russia continues rejecting all proposals in this regard, continues betting on escalation and has the civilian population as its target," he stated, calling for greater efforts to "bring Russia to the negotiating table".
