The Central General Headquarters of Jatam al Anbiya, one of the main commands of the Iranian Armed Forces, issued a harsh warning on Wednesday to countries aligned with Washington. According to the statement, U.S. allies could be left without access to crude oil and suffer interruptions in electricity supply if U.S. forces carry out bombings against bridges and power plants on Iranian territory.
"In the event that U.S. threats materialize, we will not allow the export of a single drop of oil, and the oil, gas, electricity, and economic infrastructures of the region will be subject to attacks; the repeated threats from the United States will result in nothing but the expansion of war in the region and even beyond it," it stated in a statement.
In the same vein, the president of the Iranian Parliament, Mohamad Baqer Qalibaf, has insisted that the "equation" is evident and that now it is "either all or none," suggesting that if Iran is prevented from selling crude oil, no country in its vicinity will be able to do so.
"In a region where we do not sell oil, no one will sell oil. If our security is not guaranteed, no infrastructure will be safe, and the security of the strait will depend on the absence of U.S. forces. We have repeatedly said that the situation of the strait will not return to how it was before the war," he argued in a message posted on social media.
For his part, Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi emphasized that Tehran's "defense doctrine" is based on the principle of "an eye for an eye." "Any aggression against Iran, including our infrastructure, will result in a powerful and forceful response. Those who contribute to such aggression, whatever type of support, will also be considered legitimate targets," he said.
The verbal escalation comes after U.S. President Donald Trump warned that his troops would destroy a bridge or a power plant in Iran for every ship attacked by Iranian forces in the Strait of Hormuz.
"From now on, every time the Islamic Republic of Iran attacks a ship in the Strait of Hormuz, whether with missiles, rockets, drones, or any other device or weapon, the United States will bomb and destroy a bridge or a power plant, including those located near or within the capital, Tehran," he said in a brief message on social media.
The United States has been carrying out attacks against Iran for several days, alleging violations of the memorandum of understanding, accusations that Tehran rejects, denouncing in turn breaches of the ceasefire. The Iranian response with attacks against U.S. interests in the area has increased fears of a definitive failure of negotiations for a peace agreement.
