The Vetëvendosje (VV, Self-determination, left-wing) party, led by Kosovo's Prime Minister Albin Kurti, has once again won the parliamentary elections held this Sunday, obtaining 41.24% of the votes with just over 40% of the ballots counted. This result is below the 49.34% achieved in the elections of last December 28.

Behind VV are the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), with 21.93% of the votes, and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), which reaches 18.08%, according to the still provisional official data. The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo secures 8.31% support.

Before the first counts were made public, Kurti claimed guarantees for the integrity of the process and respect for the verdict of the ballot boxes. "The will of the citizens expressed in today's elections is within the ballot boxes and its protection is a necessary condition for the legitimacy and credibility of the electoral process," he stated on social media.

The head of the Executive also highlighted the work of those overseeing the election day. "At this moment, our eyes, ears, and attention are on you, commissioners and observers. You have a great and noble institutional responsibility on your shoulders," he emphasized.

The citizens of Kosovo have been called to the polls this Sunday for the third time in just over a year and a half, in an attempt to unblock the political crisis that has been dragging on since February of last year. During this period, the country has had a practically inoperative Parliament and no fully consolidated president, due to the deep divergences between Kurti's party and the opposition of the PDK and LDK.
