The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, has questioned whether the drone that crashed last night on Romanian territory is of Russian manufacture and has raised the possibility of ordering an "objective investigation" into this first incident of its kind that leaves injuries in a member country of the European Union and NATO.
"Russia is willing to conduct an objective investigation if the wreckage of the drone that crashed in Romania is handed over to it," Putin stated in his first reaction to the incident, during a press conference reported by the Russian news agency TASS.
The leader stressed that he considers it essential to open this investigation, understanding that "no one can state with certainty what the origin of the drone is until the wreckage is examined" and pointed out that previous cases of Ukrainian drones crashing in neighboring countries have already been recorded.
"Ukrainian drones have flown over several countries, and the first reaction has always been that the Russians are attacking," the Russian president added in this regard regarding the explosion in the city of Galati, which has raised concern and the alert level among the allies of the Atlantic Alliance.
