The Russian authorities have reiterated this Tuesday that their main objective is to "effectively eliminate" any "threat" coming from Western countries, while holding the United States and Europe responsible for thwarting attempts to achieve a balanced security agreement between both parties.
The Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, emphasized in Moscow, during a speech before a group of graduates from the diplomatic service, that "our priority now is to effectively eliminate all the threats that exist from the West, mainly as a result of the war unleashed against Russia using Ukrainians."
According to him, in this context it is about protecting the honor and dignity of the Russian people, as well as their culture, language, and religious beliefs. "These are the objectives of the special military operation," recalled the head of Russian diplomacy, who added that "there are other pending tasks."
Lavrov has assured that "all these objectives will be achieved. This will contribute to improving the situation on the Eurasian continent and will promote the formation of a multipolar world order," and emphasized that Moscow is now preferentially orienting its policy towards the East, something he directly attributes to the decisions made by Western countries.
In this regard, he stressed that "love cannot be forced. The East has never turned its back on us (...) we are developing relationships with all our neighbors to the extent that they are willing to do so, fairly and justly."
The minister also indicated that since 2008 there have been "several attempts" for Russia and Western powers to reach an understanding on security that would be equitable for both parties, but he accused his interlocutors of having thwarted those initiatives.
