The president of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Ilan Goldfajn, announced this Thursday the launch of an aid package valued at at least one million dollars, around 870,000 euros, to respond to the severe consequences of the double earthquake registered on June 24 in Venezuela.
"The IDB Group is providing a package of donations of at least one million dollars for immediate humanitarian assistance and the assessment of damages and losses," he stated on his social networks.
Goldfajn also expressed his "solidarity" with Venezuelans. "Our thoughts are with all those affected," he added.
According to the most recent balance released by the authorities, the double earthquake, with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale, which shook the central coastal area of Venezuela, has left 2,295 dead and 11,267 injured.
