The United States Armed Forces have reported this Saturday the start of the operation called Iron Gate, an initiative that seeks to prevent Iran’s land-based trade and serve as a complement to the naval blockade already established by Washington in the Persian Gulf region.
The central purpose is “to prevent Iran from using land routes to transport advanced armament and other materials,” according to what the U.S. Armed Forces Central Command has stated in an official note.
About 20 personnel, including both civilian and military staff, will operate from Florida and will be coordinated with various U.S. federal agencies to “prevent the movement of advanced weapons, dual-use technology, sanctioned materials, and illegal benefits,” both through land border crossings and the Caspian Sea.
“The creation of the Tarrea Force Iron Gate reinforces the success of our hardline sea blockade against Iran,” the head of the U.S. Central Command, Admiral Brad Cooper, has stressed.
In this way, it is intended to limit the “financing of terrorism, the rebuilding of armament factories, and the replenishment of its military equipment,” Cooper added, who recalls that the naval encirclement applied in recent months has prevented Tehran from placing more than $25 billion in crude oil on the market.
