The number two of the PP for Madrid to Congress, Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo, has linked the disturbances registered this weekend in Barcelona with the decisions of the Executive of Pedro Sánchez, whom she has labeled as a "pyromaniac" and has accused of "encouraging" a "civil war" strategy based on confrontation.

The 'popular' leader has expressed her "absolute support for the State Security Forces and Corps" and has aligned herself with their criticisms regarding the lack of resources and institutional backing. In this sense, she has emphasized that Spain has been dragging years of "weakening of the State and legitimization of impunity and violence," as she pointed out in an interview on Espejo Público, reported by Europa Press.

In her opinion, what happened in the streets of the Catalan capital "is the result of a policy" led by a president who, after having "lost the street, encourages those who seek to set it on fire and raises walls against the other half of society." Furthermore, she has denounced that Sánchez "governs out of hatred and confrontation" due to a lack of emotional support and social adhesion.

Álvarez de Toledo has maintained that the Government has provided cover for violence in two specific areas: through agreements and the whitewashing of Bildu and through its management in Catalonia, where she has recalled that Sánchez "has granted amnesty to those who set the streets on fire in Barcelona" and has granted pardons to those responsible for the episodes of urban destruction.

In this line, she has insisted that "there is no freedom without order and there is no order without authority," emphasizing that the role of the security forces is to protect the freedom of citizens and guarantee social peace.

Warning about the political future and call for a broad majority

In the electoral sphere and in light of a possible transfer of support towards Vox following the incidents, Álvarez de Toledo has warned that an eventual continuation of Sánchez in La Moncloa would mean a "descent into the hell of division and indecency," after accusing the current political cycle of deteriorating "elementary" public morality.

According to the deputy, Sánchez's tactic is to foster the fragmentation of the right-wing space in the hope that it will strengthen his chances of continuing to govern. For this reason, she has called for a "very broad and very strong" majority around the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, that would allow for the restoration of legal order, coexistence, and democratic quality.

Álvarez de Toledo has defended that Feijóo possesses "solvency, rigor, and honesty" and embodies the "antithesis" of the "corrupt and corrosive egolatry," which, in her opinion, represents Sánchez.

"Against this president we have another who is a decent man, which would seem obvious to us in a democracy, that a president has to be decent, but Sánchez is not a decent man," she has concluded.
