The president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, denounced this Monday that "not all the bodies have yet been handed over" from the Urda (Toledo) accident and, nevertheless, Pedro Sánchez's Executive would be focused on the "narrative" and the "polls" to gauge whether the dismissal of the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, "benefits or not". After insisting that "frivolity" and "bluster" do not solve problems, he claimed his management track record as a guarantee to lead the country.

"Spain does not need an influencer at the head of its institutions. It needs someone who wants and knows how to govern. And with all humility I say: I do know how to do it," Feijóo stated before the National Executive Committee held at the PP headquarters, in which the election campaign has resumed after the tragic accident in Urda (Toledo), in which at least 69 people have lost their lives.

The event, convened under the slogan "A Spain that works", and which some regional PP barons were unable to attend for schedule reasons, began with a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the accident. In addition, those present gave a long ovation to the former Minister of Employment Fátima Báñez, one of the people who died in the railway disaster.

Sánchez has used power "as an end in itself"

According to Feijóo, over the last eight years Sánchez has used "power as an end in itself". "Truth ceases to be a commitment, what happens no longer matters, but how it is told.

It is enough for the narrative to work," he pointed out, stressing that even a tragedy like that of Urda "is managed by thinking of power as an end".

The PP leader emphasized that deciding the future of the Minister of Transport based on "what the polls say" shows the "moral level of these people, which is none". "They still have not handed over all the bodies to the families and they are with polls to see whether the dismissal of the minister hurts them or not," he reproached.

The head of the opposition, who conveyed the PP's support to the victims, their loved ones and the drivers, controllers and workers of Adif and Renfe, recalled that, nine months after the Adamuz accident, "the families still do not know what happened, but here they take only a few hours to find a culprit".

He criticizes Sánchez for not facing up in Congress

Feijóo has maintained that the political officials responsible for the Urda accident should not continue in their positions and has emphasized that, if it depended on him, the one who would appear this Tuesday before the Permanent Deputation would be the Prime Minister himself, and not Minister Puente, who would already have been dismissed.

Along these lines, he has indicated that he rejects a way of doing politics that places power above everything and puts one person before all the citizens. "And I do not think that a president deserves shields. No. In my understanding of power, it is the president who answers to the citizens for all the management of his Government. And it is the president who faces up when something goes wrong", he has highlighted.

In any case, he has predicted that in less than a month it will be the Spaniards who settle accounts at the ballot box. "We will make them resign at the ballot box because the best Spain also deserves the best Government", he has affirmed.

He calls the country to a national reconstruction

Feijóo has shown himself certain that on November 29 Spain "will choose a better Government" because "it is not Spain that is failing, it is its Government". "It is no longer just that it is obvious that they are not good managers, it is that I doubt that they are also good people because this attitude is infamous, cruel and vile", he has sentenced, asking next: "What would Óscar Puente be tweeting if another had done this?".

After stressing that the PP offers "management, rigor and experience", he has specified that his purpose is not "to destroy the rival" but to promote "national reconstruction". "And to that I call the whole country. To rise again once more", he has underscored.

In this context, he has highlighted his managerial profile throughout his political career. "Seriousness is not a defect. Seriousness is a form of respect. And the Spaniards, once and for all, deserve respect", he has emphasized.

Feijóo has also attacked the PSOE campaign in these elections. "I demand that they spare us the dances, the sexual reflections, or the television promotions making fun of the lamentable state of our railway system", he has complained.

Follow the "trail of management" of Fátima Báñez

With less than a month to go before the appointment with the ballot box, Feijóo has encouraged his people to throw themselves into the streets to defend change with the values that, in his opinion, Spain needs, "which have been missed these days" and which Fátima Báñez embodied, "a person who governed with service, dialogue, work and dedication to others".

After highlighting that Báñez is "a name that they repeat "with pride", he has urged to continue "that trail of management of public affairs" and to "have no interests other than the general interests" of the country. "That is why let us always keep in mind her way of understanding politics and also her way of understanding life", he has concluded.
