The Minister of Agriculture, Luis Planas, has reiterated that "in the shortest possible period" both his department in the Government of Spain and other ministries will bring to the Council of Ministers "the actions that are necessary" for the areas hit by the recent dana Adam, which two weeks ago especially struck in the Comunitat Valenciana, in the comarcas of the Safor (Valencia) and the Marina Alta (Alicante).

Planas made these statements to the media after touring this Monday several agricultural areas of the Alicante municipality of Pego affected by the storm, a visit in which he was accompanied by the new Government delegate in the Comunitat Valenciana, Roger Llanes, and by the mayor of the town, Enrique Moll.

"We have taken good note of it," the minister indicated after finishing the tour of the damaged lands, lamenting that the dana Adam caused "four dead people," as well as "a lot of destruction".

The head of Agriculture explained that, unlike the dana recorded in October 2024 in Valencia, "where there were many plots that were flooded and where the trees and production were affected in a very important way", in Adam's episode "that has also been the case in some instances", although he specified that "the greater part of the damage" is concentrated in "paths", "roads", "irrigation infrastructure" and, occasionally, in "some farm".

Planas recalled that "on Tuesday of last week the Council of Ministers made the declaration of civil protection emergency that is necessary for the purposes of the action of the different ministries. Also this emergency action that the Pego Town Hall is carrying out is based precisely on that declaration".

In this context, he pointed out that "now" it is up to the different departments of the Executive, including Agriculture, to specify which interventions the Government will assume "to repair what is" within its "competence". "And on occasions we also do what is not within our competence, but which is necessary," he added.
