The National Police carried out this Wednesday several charges against the demonstrators in front of the Ministry of Transport, where the resignation of the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, was being demanded.

At around 9:30 p.m., the officers proceeded to disperse the protest through charges in which they used pepper spray and shotguns with rubber bullets to disperse the attendees.

"We were not doing anything and at a certain point, they pushed us violently and started saying that we should leave. When they saw that many people were not moving, they gassed us. There are elderly people here," said a young man present in the vicinity of the ministry headed by Puente.

During the afternoon, social networks filled with calls to demand accountability from the Government for the railway accident recorded in the morning between Urda and Los Yébenes (Toledo), after the collision between two trains that has left, at least, 68 dead and 80 injured.

Under the slogan "we demand that those responsible pay," two unsigned calls had been circulated at 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. in front of the headquarters of the Ministry of Transport, in Nuevos Ministerios.

Although at the beginning the presence of demonstrators was reduced, by around 8:30 p.m. a large group had gathered chanting slogans such as "Óscar Puentes murderer" and demanding the resignation of the minister, as well as that of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez.

As the minutes passed, the protest turned into clashes between demonstrators and officers, with incidents and damage to street furniture that raised tensions and forced the deployment of a large police operation.

In parallel, the organization Revuelta, linked in the past to Vox, joined the call in Madrid and urged people to gather in the rest of the country in front of Government subdelegations and town halls "in an exercise of national dignity, unity and demand for accountability".

From Revuelta they reiterated that the only common emblem is "the Spanish one," while they accuse "the political parties" of the division. "Let no one divide us! The people against the guilty," they proclaimed.

The union Solidaridad, linked to Santiago Abascal's party, has called on the citizens of Madrid to gather at 8:00 p.m. in Plaza de Cibelea to demand accountability from Minister Óscar Puente and the resignation of Pedro Sánchez. "Corruption kills," they denounced.

Vox has circulated this quote and has specified that it will be held "adhering" to the minute of silence called in the same place and at the same time by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces. The party has also confirmed the presence of its representatives in different town councils across the country at the tribute events for the victims.
