The Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, stated this Thursday that the railway accident that has caused at least 69 deaths will be investigated "down to the last detail" and that security is going to be "strengthened so that it does not happen again".

A day after the railway tragedy in Urda (Toledo), caused by the collision of two high-speed trains, the head of the Executive has underlined that the central Government and the entire State institutions are working "day and night" to offer answers to the victims' relatives and clarify what has happened.

Sánchez made these remarks after attending the meeting of the integrated operational coordination center (Cecopi), the body that leads the management of the accident, in which the President of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, also took part.

On the previous day, the Prime Minister had already pointed out that it is "not admissible" for a country like Spain to record two high-speed accidents -- both with a high number of fatalities-- in the same year and warned that, if "negligences" were confirmed, "it will eventually be known."
