The President of the Government and PSOE candidate for reelection, Pedro Sánchez, will return this Friday to pre-campaign activity ahead of the general elections on November 29 with an event in the city of Valencia. The Socialist electoral agenda was paralyzed last week after the Urda (Toledo) railway accident, according to party sources told Europa Press.
According to these sources, the gathering will be "open" and will bring together "the whole party," the membership, and "all the people who want to join." They insist that the objective of the PSOE is to make clear that, although the tone of the campaign "is going to change" after the railway disaster recorded on Wednesday in the province of Toledo, "the strength" of the Socialists "remains the same." The rally will be held in the afternoon, in the Valencian capital, in a space still "to be determined".
It is planned that the heads of the PSPV lists to the Congress for Valencia, Castellón and Alicante, Pilar Bernabé, María Jiménez and Toni Francés, as well as the candidates to the Senate, led by Juan Antonio Sagredo in Valencia, will attend. The presence of the general secretary of the PSPV and Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Diana Morant, is also expected, in addition to other Socialist leaders.
Sánchez's most recent visit to the province of Valencia took place last October 20, when he went to Oliva after the intense rains associated with the dana Adam. On that occasion he announced that the Council of Ministers would approve the declaration of a catastrophe area for the affected municipalities and that the State would provide economic resources for reconstruction, in addition to expediting hiring "so that normality is restored as soon as possible".
Two days after the pre-campaign event in Valencia, on Sunday, Pedro Sánchez will take part in another electoral event in Bilbao. Initially, Vitoria was scheduled to be the first Basque capital to host a rally by the Socialist leader, under the slogan "The Strength of the people". However, that appointment was suspended after the Toledo accident, as were the rest of the scheduled events.
On October 17, the head of the Executive and candidate for reelection kicked off his pre-campaign for the general elections of November 29 in the Madrid town of Fuenlabrada. He later embarked on a tour of different parts of the country, which was halted on October 28.
