The parliamentary spokesperson for IU and deputy of Sumar, Enrique Santiago, has admitted that "he is still in shock" at the decision of the National Court to order the suspension of the migrant camp in the Port of Ceuta until it decides whether to suspend it definitively. In his opinion, this judicial ruling reinforces the urgency of organizing the transfer of migrants to the Peninsula, given that the courts are posing "problems" for normalizing the situation in the autonomous city.
On the other hand, the general secretary of Podemos, Ione Belarra, has emphasized that this resolution would not have occurred if the Executive had implemented the relocation of these people at the beginning of this "humanitarian crisis".
Both leaders expressed themselves in Congress after the National Court ordered the Government not to execute for now the resolution with which it intended to set up a camp in the Port of Ceuta to accommodate the migrants who arrived in the autonomous city during the massive entry recorded at the end of July.
Santiago has indicated that he is "frankly" surprised by the criterion of the National Court, in decreeing the suspension of a measure like this camp without adopting any additional precautionary measures.
The deputy has pointed out that, in the face of "such particular resolutions" and the "difficulties" posed by different state instances to adequately organize the reception in Ceuta, the decision of the Court reinforces the advisability of accelerating the transfers of migrants to the Peninsula.
"Since the courts are not helping to relieve the pressure on the people of Ceuta, today more than ever the position that makes the most sense is to transfer all people to the Peninsula and in this way it will be avoided that the courts pose problems for normalizing the situation".
Meanwhile, Belarra has insisted that "this situation would never have occurred if the Government had done what it had to do, which is to resolve this humanitarian crisis the next day, within 48 hours, by making the appropriate transfers to the Peninsula".
