The Air and Space Force has carried out for the first time the deployment of personnel from the Air Component of the Joint Force (ESP JFAC) at the Pollença air base, in Mallorca, in order to plan air operations in the context of the exercise "Sirio-Dragón-Tormenta 2026".

The operation, carried out between October 15 and 29, has been made possible thanks to the support of the personnel and resources of the Mobile Air Control Group (Grumoca), the Second Air Deployment Support Squadron (Seada) and the Management Computing Center (Ciges).

The Air and Space Force has emphasized that this is the first occasion on which part of the JFAC is being deployed in Mallorca, coinciding with the recent reclassification of the former Pollença airfield as an air base.

The support provided by the air base itself, the Matacán School Group (Gruema), the Seada and the Ciges has made it possible for the deployed personnel to carry out all their functions with complete normality from a facility initially not equipped for it, such as the parking platform for the base's seaplanes.

With this deployment, the projection capability of the JFAC is being tested and reinforced, one of the priorities of the Air and Space Force in order to contribute to the fulfillment of the international commitments undertaken by Spain within the international organizations with which it maintains this committed capability.

The purpose of the exercise is to train and assess the combat air units, combat support units and the command and control system, ensuring their level of readiness in the planning and execution of operations. Likewise, it seeks to preserve the operational availability and degree of readiness necessary to constitute, quickly and effectively, the air operational organizations that are determined.
