Next Tuesday, the Council of Ministers is scheduled to give the green light to a royal decree with which the aid directed at the victims of the Urda railway accident will be organized. At the same time, the head of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, will send the Executive a technical report detailing the circumstances of the accident.

According to sources from Moncloa told Europa Press, the minister himself will appear at a press conference after the meeting of the Council of Ministers to explain the content of the report and detail the scope of the aid. Regarding the royal decree, from the Presidency of the Government they underline that its processing will be carried out "as happens in other tragedies".

Later, on Tuesday, Puente will also go to the Permanent Deputation of Congress, where he will provide the data he has available so far on the accident and answer the questions of the parliamentary groups.

As for the design of the aid, the Government already applied a similar scheme after the Adamuz (Córdoba) railway accident, when 136 requests for compensation intended for victims and relatives of the deceased were approved. That procedure contemplated direct and non-repayable aid in cases of injury and death, in addition to an advance on civil liability compensation.

In that precedent, the Executive launched an economic support package valued at 20 million euros, with the aim of offering those affected and their relatives immediate material support that would help alleviate the financial impact derived from the accident.

Then, the minister detailed that, in the event of death, the amount came to 72,000 euros in direct aid and another 72,000 euros in advances, all of them amounts exempt from taxation. In cases of bodily injury, the compensation was set according to the current scale depending on the severity, and ranged between 2,400 euros for the least serious injuries and more than 84,000 euros for the most serious cases, with those amounts being replicated in the corresponding part of the advance.

Likewise, once the compulsory insurance determined the injuries and also the deceased persons, the victims received an identical additional amount from the compulsory insurance. In this way, within a period of no more than three months, a victim in the event of death received 210,000 euros.
