The Deputy Secretary for Health and Social Policy of the PP, Carmen Fúnez, has called on the central Government for an extraordinary plan to support the thousands of employees in Ciudad Real and Puertollano affected by the interruption of the High-Speed line with Madrid after the railway accident in Urda.
According to Fúnez, the service disruption is forcing, in numerous cases, up to six hours of daily travel in order to be able to go to the workplace.
"The railway tragedy in Urda cannot also become a labor and family tragedy," Fúnez has defended on social media, according to information from the party.
In the face of this situation, she has urged the Executive to guarantee teleworking whenever it is feasible, as well as to put in place measures that favor flexible working hours and safeguard employment. She has also requested specific aid to compensate for the additional transport expenses that many families are facing after the suspension of the High-Speed service.
Fúnez has underscored that this scenario is directly altering the work-life balance of thousands of citizens, who live with "anguish" not knowing whether they will be able to get to pick up their children from school or whether they will be able to keep their job".
"Suspending trains for safety may be necessary. Leaving thousands of workers and families without solutions, no," Fúnez has pointed out, who has warned that "for the AVE to stop cannot mean that the lives of thousands of families stop". "We cannot allow these families to have to choose between their work and their children".
