The son of former president of the Generalitat Josep Tarradellas, who bore the same name as his father, has died this Friday at the age of 84 in Lausanne (Switzerland), the city where he lived, according to a statement from his family this Saturday afternoon.
The family has reported that the farewell ceremony will take place on Wednesday 11 de novembre at 16.30 in the Montoie funeral home center, in Lausanne.
"With great sadness, the Tarradellas-Kauffmann family shares the news of the death of the person who was a very dearly loved husband, father and grandfather," adds the statement.
Born in exile
Josep Tarradellas i Macià was born in France in 1942, the son of the then president of the Generalitat in exile, who died in 1988, and of Maria Antònia Macià, who died in 2001. His sister Montserrat had died years earlier, in 1984.
On September 7, he was unable to attend the opening ceremony of the Any Tarradellas, on the occasion of the 50 years since the return from exile of his father, held at the Palau de la Generalitat, and instead his son attended, the grandson of the former president.
