Vox Cantabria has demanded that political responsibilities be clarified for the Government delegate and general secretary of the PSOE in the community, Pedro Casares, after new information emerged about payments made by the party to Leire Díez.

The PSOE has admitted that it paid 44,859 euros to Díez for her work as a communication advisor for the party in Cantabria between 2015 and 2017, a sum much higher than the 15,612 euros it had already acknowledged before the judge of Plaza de Castilla who is investigating the case against the former socialist militant for alleged crimes of influence peddling and bribery.

Abascal's party in Cantabria expressed this Thursday its "resounding rejection" of this data and of the response offered by the highest leader of the Cantabrian socialists, Pedro Casares.

The party has stressed that "the emergence of information about these payments contradicts the explanations offered by the highest official of the PSOE in Cantabria, who already lied at the time when he stated that Leire Diez had been paid 15,000 euros when there was another payment of 30,000, demonstrating the opacity regarding the destination of funds that come, in part, from public funding paid for by all Spaniards".

In the same vein, Vox has denounced that "it is extremely serious that the general secretary of the PSOE of Cantabria and government delegate has hidden information about the payments and the real activities carried out by the plumber".

Furthermore, it has reiterated that "it is unacceptable that the PSOE uses the taxes of Cantabrians to finance a national corruption network whose sole purpose is to manipulate, harass, and discredit the work of the judiciary".

The party has added that "the fact that this is a usual practice of the PSOE should make us reflect on how far those who have neither scruples nor democratic values will go to maintain power".

The party also insisted that "the PSOE of Cantabria must immediately offer its accounts for review, since, if they have forgotten that they paid the plumber 30,000 euros, we have every right to think that there may be other amounts intended to undermine democracy in the accounts of that corrupt party".

Vox concludes that "this demonstrates that the PSOE sewers only worked to end any political adversary with the supervision of Pedro Sánchez and, for this reason, we demand his resignation again and the immediate call for elections".
