The spokesperson for Vox in Congress, Pepa Rodríguez de Millán, ratified this Saturday that her party will be present in the hemicycle to listen to the speech that Pope Leo XIV will offer in the Lower Chamber on June 8, on the occasion of his visit to Spain. She trusts that his message "will remind politicians of their vocation of service".
"Of course, we will be celebrating this apostolic journey of the Holy Father to Spain, of course we will be (in Congress)," stated Rodríguez de Millán in an interview with 'Parlamento' on 'RNE', collected by Europa Press.
The Vox leader pointed out that she hopes Leo XIV's speech will serve to remind deputies and senators not to forget "the vocation of service to others that public representatives are supposed to have" and that, "whoever feels challenged, it helps them to stir their conscience."
Beyond the speech in Congress, Rodríguez de Millán expressed her wish that the pontiff's trip contribute to "strengthening it as a nation." In her opinion, the visit should also serve "to elevate us a little and attend to what is truly important." "We celebrate that the Pope is coming to Spain, to a land so important that it has done so much for Christianity throughout the world," she concluded.
