The match between CD Tenerife and FC Andorra, corresponding to the twelfth round of LaLiga Hypermotion, ended this Monday, November 2, in dramatic fashion after a very hard tackle by goalkeeper Jesús Owono on striker Jesús de Miguel forced the match to be stopped in the final minutes. The Tenerife player was left lying on the grass, apparently unconscious, after receiving a hard blow to the head and had to be attended to by medical services before being taken by ambulance to a hospital center.

The action occurred in the 97th minute, when the scoreboard showed a two-goal tie. Owono left his goal and went out to the vicinity of the center of the field to try to clear a long ball that the Tenerife attacker was chasing. In his intervention, the goalkeeper violently collided with his knee against the head of Jesús de Miguel, who fell collapsed onto the field of play. The referee, Manuel Ángel Pérez Hernández, showed the direct red card to the Andorra goalkeeper, although the seriousness of what happened immediately focused attention on the striker's condition.

Jesús de Miguel, evacuated to the hospital after ten minutes of medical attention

The tackle caused moments of enormous concern in the Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium, where medical services quickly came to attend to the player. For approximately ten minutes, Jesús de Miguel remained on the grass while the medics intervened and the players of both teams watched the situation with evident signs of distress.

Some of his teammates could not hold back their tears at the severity of the blow, while others knelt on the field of play. Finally, the striker was immobilized, removed on a stretcher and transferred in a medical ambulance to the hospital to undergo a medical evaluation.

Concern also spread to the stands. Numerous fans remained attentive to the assistance to the player and some later gathered in the vicinity of the stadium to learn news about his condition. When the ambulance left the premises, the supporters gave the player an ovation as a show of support.

For the moment, the extent of Jesús de Miguel's injuries has not been officially confirmed, so it will be necessary to wait for the results of the medical tests and for the information provided by CD Tenerife to know his progress.

The referee suspends the match with the score tied at two

The seriousness of the incident led the official to meet with the captains of both teams to assess whether there were conditions to continue playing. Finally, the referee decided to suspend the match when there were still approximately two minutes of added time remaining, after checking the players' state of concussion.

The match was interrupted with 2-2 on the scoreboard, after Andorra had managed to equalize the result in the 87th minute. Owono's expulsion was the last major sporting incident in a match whose outcome was completely overshadowed by the evacuation of Jesús de Miguel.

According to 101TV, the two clubs would have agreed to end the match with the 2-2 draw. However, official confirmation of the final resolution of the match by the competent bodies remains pending.

The situation also caused the suspension of the post-match press conferences. Neither Álvaro Cervera, Tenerife's coach, nor Carles Manso, Andorra's coach, appeared before the media after what happened.

A match that had already been postponed due to the heavy rains in Tenerife

The match had been marked by difficulties from before it was played. It was initially scheduled for Sunday, November 1, but had to be postponed due to the weather alert for heavy rains affecting the island. The Cabildo de Tenerife had ordered the preventive closure of various sports facilities, including the Heliodoro Rodríguez López, given the adverse weather conditions.

After receiving authorization to reopen the stadium, both teams agreed to play the match this Monday at 13:00 hours in the Canary Islands, 14:00 on the Peninsula. However, what was supposed to be a day of competition ended up marked by the serious action between Owono and Jesús de Miguel.

The main concern now focuses on the evolution of the Tenerife forward, while official medical information is awaited that will make it possible to determine the consequences of the blow suffered during the final moments of the match.
